With the holidays coming up, there's lots of traveling being done. If you're heading up north or east, snow is in the forecast for Wednesday (December 20th).

In a Special Weather Statement issued by the National Weather Service in Grand Forks on Tuesday, snow is forecasted to hit the regions of eastern North Dakota and northwest Minnesota. Approximately 3 to 6 inches of snow is in the forecast for these regions.

The Special Weather Statement reads:

The most likely area for this band is centered around a line from Devils Lake through the central Red River Valley east-southeast to Park Rapids (Minn.), or generally between U.S. Highway 2 and Interstate 94.

Amounts of snow around 3 to 4 inches are forecasted for Grand Forks, Fargo, Jamestown, Crookston, Thief River Falls, Bemidji and Park Rapids, according to the National Weather Service. Devils Lake, Cooperstown, and Cando could receive around 4 to 6 inches of snow.

At this time, snow isn't in the forecast for Thursday for these areas, but could return on Friday just as temperatures are expected to drop significantly throughout the upcoming holiday weekend for most of North Dakota, including the aforementioned regions.

Be safe on the roads if you have to travel to these regions this week and on into the weekend.
