88-year-old Woman Charged with Assaulting MA Authorites

Remember the old lady in Madagascar, who would show up in random places and beat Alex over the head with her purse? Or when Kim Ly went postal on Guy Gagné in Turbo?Those are the sorts of images this story brings to mind. Only, this Pittsfield, Massachusetts lady used something much less benign than her purse.

When police mistakenly showed up at the home of 88-year-old Phyllis Stankiewicz in response to a report of a disturbance involving a baseball bat, Stankiewicz was furious -- and grabbed a weapon of her own.

Police say she brandished a knife and slapped one of the officers in question.

On Friday (Jun 25), Stankiewicz pleaded not guilty to assault and battery charges in district court and was released on her own recognizance.

The baseball bat disturbance had actually occurred at the home of one of the feisty octogenarian's neighbors.
