Emergency crews have responded to calls from residents concerned about a statue of homeless Jesus, thinking it was a real person.

The statue of homeless Jesus was installed just last month in front of the First Lutheran Church in downtown Fargo. The Fargo Fire Department has said that it must treat every call as an emergency, even if that call is discovered to be about a lifelike statue.

Sculptor Tim Schmalz created the bronze statue, which depicts Jesus as a homeless man, covered in a blanket, lying on a park bench.

The statue and various models of the statue have showed up in several cities around the world, including the Vatican. Not only has the statue provoked several emergency calls in each city, but also inspired many people to leave donations for the homeless, including money, food, and books that are donated to local organizations to help the homeless.
