Well, you had to see it coming. Actress and professional media magnet Amanda Bynes has finally been placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold. And all it took was starting a fire in a stranger's driveway.

This all happened late last night (July 22), in Thousand Oaks, Calif. -- the same city where Bynes was also forcibly removed from a retirement community for trespassing just hours before.

As for the elderly woman whose driveway Amanda set ablaze? She told TMZ it was cops who alerted her to the situation, asking, "Do you know anyone by the name of Amanda Bynes, or why she would have some vendetta against you?"

She didn't, of course, but says police told her the "young lady" in her driveway was carrying a "little red gas tank" and had "burned part of her clothing."

After Bynes started the impromptu campfire, firemen called the sheriff's department. Officers questioned Amanda and, based on what we're assuming were some characteristically loopy answers from her, they determined she needed to be placed on a 5150 hold.

In layman's terms, a 5150 means you may or may not be a crazy person, but you're acting like one and authorities are concerned you're a danger to yourself or others -- so you get a free trip to a hospital psych ward against your will. (You may recall Britney Spears was famously 5150'd at least twice in 2008.)

However, Bynes can only be held for a maximum of 72 hours. Which just isn't long enough to solve this mess.
