Thursday, April 28th, will be a big day for former North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz, which is all the more reason for Bismarck to officially name the day for him.

Bismarck Mayor Mike Seminary has proclaimed April 28th, 2016, 'Carson Wentz Day' in the quarterback's hometown. He posted the proclamation on his Twitter account:

In the spring of 2013, Bismarck Century Senior and Quarterback Carson Wentz signed his letter of intent to play football for the Bison of North Dakota State University - NDSU.

Following his brother Zach, another Bismarck Century graduate, and record-setting Division I NDSU baseball player and now Legacy High School educator and Bismarck leader, Carson found himself one of five quarterbacks on the 2011-12 Bison roster, and one of those quarterbacks was the FCS's all-time winningest, Brock Jensen;

WHEREAS, Carson Wentz has become, and is a soft spoken leader that brings it on and off the field, and is an Ambassador for Bismarck and North Dakota; and

WHEREAS, Carson Wentz displayed the value and importance of patience and learning as a backup quarterback for the better part of three years as Brock Jensen and the NDSU Bison won three consecutive FCS championships; and

WHEREAS, Carson Wentz during and early in the 2015-16 season and his senior year, after guiding the 2014-15 Bison to its fourth consecutive FCS championship, suffered a broken wrist to his throwing hand; and

WHEREAS, Carson Wentz while focusing on disciplined rehabilitation, also used his injury as an opportunity to coach, lead and mentor his replacement Easton Stick, winning every game; and

WHEREAS, Carson Wentz the athlete understands the value of education, is a 4.0 student, 2015 Academic All American of the Year, 2011-12-13 and 2014 MVFC (Missouri Valley Football Conference) Honor Roll, and is holder of 7 different NDSU records, and Quarterback in the 2015-16 National Championship Game, NDSU's 5th consecutive; and

WHEREAS, Carson Wentz is a humble, faith based virtuous servant leader always putting God first, people second, and everything else next; is this day anticipating the prospect of being drafted into the National Football League because of his talent and character...

Now, therefore, I Mike Seminary, Mayor of the City of Bismarck and this Board of City Commissioners do hereby proclaim Thursday, April 28th, 2016 as

CARSON WENTZ DAY

The first round of the NFL Draft takes place Thursday, April 28th, in Chicago. Wentz is expected to be one of the first two overall picks.
