Carson Wentz Has a Newly Acquired Target at Wide Receiver

The Philadelphia Eagles have been hampered by injuries throughout this first half of the 2018 season on both sides of the ball. However, they just made a move to give Carson Wentz another speedy target on offense.

The Eagles have made a trade to acquire wide receiver Golden Tate from the Detroit Lions. The Lions will get a third-round pick from the Eagles in the exchange.

Tate will join a wide receiver corps that includes Alshon Jeffery, Jordan Matthews, Nelson Agholor, as well as tight ends Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert.

Wentz already had a chance to exchange tweets with the new receiver to welcome him to the team.

Tate has been with the Lions since the start of the 2014 season. In each of Tate's four seasons with the Lions, he had 90 receptions and was a 1,000 yard-receiver in three of those four seasons. He is roughly on the same pace this season with 44 catches for 517 yards and three touchdowns.

Tate is well known for his yards-after-catch ability at the wide receiver position. This year, he has 285 yards-after-catch which has him at 3rd in the league in that category at his position.

The Eagles are on a bye this week, which may help Tate get acclimated to the new offense system he'll be learning before Philadelphia hosts Dallas on November 11th on Sunday Night Football.
