Much to the dismay of North Dakotans everywhere, Carson Wentz is likely to be inactive for the Philadelphia Eagles' first regular season game of the 2016-17 season.

In a recent interview with Philly Voice, Eagles head coach Doug Pederson made it quite clear that Wentz probably wouldn't suit up week one:

Typically, the third quarterback is down. It’s hard right now to look down the road, but if we had to play this week, Carson would be down. He’d be the third quarterback. He’d be deactivated. That’s probably the direction we’re heading, I would think is going that route. Obviously barring injury and, as you know, how this game is, but typically the third quarterback, whoever that is, is down on game day.

It's no secret that the Eagles plan to bring Wentz along slowly, but it's also no secret that Eagles fans want Wentz under center as soon as possible.

The Eagles traded up in the 2016 NFL Draft to get Wentz, as they hope he is their answer at the quarterback position. Unlike other teams, however, the Eagles have two other serviceable quarterbacks on the roster who can fill that position until Wentz is ready.

Sam Bradford is expected to be the Eagles' starting quarterback on September 11th when the team takes on the Cleveland Browns to open the regular season.
