Chris Brown pleaded not guilty yesterday (July 23) to the hit and run case that caused his probation -- in conjunction with his 2009 attack on then-girlfriend Rihanna -- to be revoked.

Charges against Brown for driving without a license or proof of insurance were dropped once his attorney was able to prove his client did indeed have both pieces of paper when the incident occurred back in May.

At the time of the accident, in which Brown rear-ended a Mercedes, he was accused of handing over false documentation, something he vehemently denied (read: cried about) on Twitter.

The case is still expected to go to trial on Aug. 15, with a trial for his probation hearing also scheduled. By the time all is said and done, he could even end up with jail time. (Yeah, we know it's unlikely. Don't be a buzzkill.)
