Citizens Local Action Energy Network (CLEAN) is proposing the idea of accessible fast-charging stations be put on major highways throughout North Dakota.

With the hopes of encouraging electric automobiles, CLEAN wants to see several charge stations put on Interstates 94 and 29. Highway 2 in Devils Lake would also see charge stations. CLEAN wants to reduce vehicle emissions with the project.

CLEAN wants to reduce vehicle emissions with the project. The funding for the project will come from a grant that CLEAN has applied for under Volkswagen's $11 billion settlement, which allocates $7.5 million for ND projects to reduce automobile emissions. The settlement says 15 percent must go towards infrastructure for clean energy projects.
