Drake went on Instagram yesterday to wish Lil Wayne a happy 34th birthday in a heartfelt post.

"Everything I got is because of God and you," he wrote. "Happy birthday to my brother. Thanks for believing in all of us when you didn't have to. YM we still alive Free C5."

The last part was likely in reference to Wayne's project The Carter V, which is currently in limbo because Wayne refuses to release it on Cash Money Records, who he's suing over unpaid royalties for $51 million. Weezy is reportedly using the album as leverage, and in addition to the $51 million lawsuit, he's also seeking $8 million in advanced money for his shelved endeavor.

Beyond the lawsuit, Drake's post to his boss and mentor was a nice one, especially given all of his recent accomplishments. Earlier this week, it was announced that Views is the first album to achieve over 1 billion streams on Apple Music, further solidifying his post as one of the most successful acts not just in hip-hop, but music period—something that he directly attributes to Wayne's belief in his talent early on.
