A Missouri woman stole a University of North Dakota police car and crashed it into a ditch near the campus of the University of Minnesota in Crookston.

The woman, who has been identified as 23-year old Kasandra Ellis from Columbia, Missouri, was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries following the accident.

According to InForum, police went to an apartment complex in Grand Forks at approximately 8:42 a.m. Sunday morning, May 22nd, to deal with a disturbance call they received regarding a drunk woman in the area.

While the officers searched the area for the woman, she managed to steal one of the police cruisers and started making her way towards Crookston, Minnesota.

At approximately 9:22 a.m., the woman crashed the cruiser into a ditch on Highway 2, before then going into another ditch near the University of Minnesota campus.

There has been no announcement regarding what charges Ellis will face.
