Even though UND dropped the moniker "Fighting Sioux" four years ago, an obligation is an obligation, and UND has to fulfill a commitment.

An agreement made years ago with the NCAA, UND is required to keep the Fighting Sioux trademark. Here's the twist, in order to maintain the trademark, UND must produce and sell items with the logo, otherwise someone else could take over the trademark and start to produce and sell Fight Sioux merchandise.

Currently, a limited amount of Fighting Sioux gear appeared in stores last week including the UND Bookstore, Scheels and at The Ralph as part of the Dakotah Legacy Collection.
