Munazzar and Mehvish Tapal of Union City, California, thought they had lost a valuable family heirloom nearly two months ago when their three-year-old son flushed it down the toilet.

This was no doubt one time the couple was happy to be proven wrong.

The heirloom, a diamond and sapphire ring that Munazzar Tapal believes has been in his family for some  60 years, traveled a third of a mile before being uncovered by sanitation workers.

The miracle took several attempts to perform, but after six weeks and flushing the sewer lines, a crew found it while vacuuming up debris and returned it to the relieved family.
