Former Bismarck Demon Ryan Blees wrapped up a stellar North Dakota wrestling career over the weekend, winning his second straight freestyle national championship.

Blees, a Bismarck native who will head to Oklahoma State in just a few weeks to wrestle for the Cowboys at the collegiate level, defeated Michigan's Logan Massa at 160-pounds to win his second straight title. He can add that championship to a mantle that already includes four state championships.

Blees needed every second of the match to defeat Massa, which he did by a 5-2 score.

Here's what Blees told WDAY about the victory:

It's awesome, that's about the only word I can describe it with.  Awesome, very memorable and I'm always gonna have strong ties to North Dakota.  Your putting your body through some things that your body probably shouldn't be going through and it just makes it so much more rewarding, all the sweat, all the blood, everything like that.  You can't get a better feeling than winning Fargo.
