A kitten that took off from her New Mexico home on Halloween night has been found nearly three weeks -- and 2,300 miles -- later in Maine.

The kitten, named Spice, bolted from her owner's Albuquerque home when the owner, who asked not to be named, opened the door for trick-or-treaters.

Though it is not known how, Spice managed to travel well over 2,000 miles before being found in Portland, Maine. The man who found her in a duffel bag outside a thrift store turned her in to the Animal Refuge League.

Fortunately, Spice was micro-chipped, or her owner might never have been found. Not so fortunate is the fact that Spice will have to remain in Maine for now; her owner cannot afford to fly her home.
