Former 'Hills' star Kristin Cavallari found herself in handcuffs thanks to a law in Illinois (where she lives with husband Jay Cutler) which landed her in jail for carrying a California driver's license.

Cavallari tweeted about the incident today (Sept. 6), writing:

Cavallari and Cutter moved into their Chicago home in the summer, making it their permanent residence, but Kristin claimed that she also had the right to hold the California license because she has an apartment there as well.

Unfortunately, this is all the information we have to go on, so we're not sure exactly what she was charged with or what her bail was -- but we have to think something strange is going on to be taken to jail just for this.

According to TMZ, however, you are required to have a valid Illinois driver's license if you have resided in the state for 90 days, or you can face a citation.
