Letter to Self
Bismarck-Mandan has been the best place to and for me!
One of the best decisions I made was joining the Bismarck-Mandan Chamber of Commerce Leadership program in the fall of 2011! I guess the program chose me but the journey of immersing myself in this community, understanding the real issues that we are faced with like energy, housing, growth, the economy, education, growing school districts, crime, business development has shaped me so much! The program created friendships I know I will have for the rest of my life.It also forced me to look at what I really wanted in my life. I realized that as important as my professional life was my personal life is the foundation of who I am. That to have a home, family, kids is as important to me as being a broadcaster and station manager. I opened my heart in ways I had not for a while. Afraid of love, afraid of rejection, afraid of a lot of things, still remembering past hurts still I opened my heart. I opened my heart to possibilities, new friendships, commitments that no matter what came I would keep my heart open, that if the right person showed up I would try my hardest not to run but be present. This process has made me a better woman, being real with myself about what I want my life to look like, the quality of relastionships I want in my life, the need for complete honesty and trust, the need for understanding, support, unconditional love, the need to be imperfect and that be completely ok.The need to love and not change a person and simply accept another for who they are. The need to allign my life, thoughts, actions in every way. The need to only give my life to that which truly honors who I am and also makes this world better. So I just wanted to share with you a glimpse to my heart, a life in progress, a life that is better because of this place Bismarck-Mandan. Thank you and with all my heart I LOVE YOU :) Mia
