Townsquare Media had a great time at the Light It Up Blue Event for World Autism Awareness Day on Saturday, April 2nd.

Roughly 400 people went to Liberty Elementary School on Saturday for the Light It Up Blue Event. The gym was filled with inflatables, games and crafts for kids of all ages. Walking up to the event you saw a sea of blue as people enjoyed the beautiful weather by checking out the firetruck, police car, petting zoo, and playground. Not to mention, the great music and delicious food!

In 2014, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that Autism numbers have risen to 1 in every 68 births in the United States. There is no known cause of Autism which is why events like this are important.

We were so happy to be involved and hope we have the same opportunity next year. Take the time to learn about Autism by checking out the Autism Society or contacting a local family.

Don't forget to wear blue throughout the month of April for Autism Awareness Month!
