Longtime NPR Radio Host Garrison Keillor has been fired by Minnesota Public Radio according to The New York Times.

The news was made public Wednesday afternoon (Nov.29th), Keillor was terminated and has left Minnesota Public Radio. Keillor, longtime host to the very popular “A Prairie Home Companion”, which he created and hosted for 42 years.

In a statement from Minnesota NPR, the network has canceled contracts with Garrison Keillor and his private media companies after recently learning of allegations. The allegations came from a female employee.

Keillor said in a statement, his firing is over a story he thinks is more interesting and complicated than the NPR version.

Regardless, many listeners in the Midwest we able to relate to the old time radio show which featured humorist bits about the life and times in Minnesota and the upper Midwest.

The 75 year-old Keillor stepped down from the weekly hosting duties last year, and the show debuted their new host musician Chris Thile. The popular radio show will also be renamed.
