A K-9 officer found a woman high on drugs hiding inside a trash container in Fargo in the wee hours of last Friday (Jan 22).

A Fargo trooper had spotted the woman in the backseat of a car he had pulled over around 1:30 a.m. in the Fargo area. The woman was sitting in a large plastic storage bin.

When the trooper spotted her, along with drug paraphernalia, in the vehicle, the woman took off on foot, even crossing Interstate-29 in her attempt to escape.

The trooper requested help in finding the woman, and a K-9 officer ultimately sniffed out 19-year-old Mercedes Russell hiding in an even more unusual plastic container -- a trash bin.

Russell faces several drug charges in Cass County, as well as a charge of fleeing a peace officer. Her arraignment is scheduled for February 18.
