The North Dakota State Bison's quest for a fifth straight FCS Championship will begin in Fargo on December 5th against either Montana or South Dakota State.

The NCAA released the FCS Championship playoff bracket on Sunday, November 22nd, and there weren't a lot of NDSU fans who were happy with where the Bison were placed.

The Bison are the 3-seed on the right side of the bracket, which also includes 2-seed Illinois State and MVFC rivals South Dakota State and Northern Iowa.

The Bison have a bye in the first round. They would host either Montana or South Dakota State at the FargoDome on December 5th. Assuming they win that game, though the Bison could face Montana who beat them to start the season, they would then likely play the winner of 6-seed Portland State and UNI/Eastern Illinois.

If the Bison make it through their quarter of the bracket, they would likely meet Illinois State with a trip to the FCS Championship on the line.

On the other side of the bracket, 1-seed Jacksonville State seems to have a pretty easy route to the FCS Championship in Frisco, TX on January 9th.

The University of North Dakota was eligible to be a part of the playoffs, but were left out of the postseason by the selection committee. They went 7-4 overall this season.
