In a new study published in the Quarterly Journal on Experimental Psychology found that people's perception of what men and women find attractive is actually far from the truth.

Researchers at Bangor University, as well as Aberdeen University, took 44 women and had them put on various amounts of makeup, from absolutely nothing to full on face paint. They then took the 21 photos of each of the subjects and showed them to 44 students, asking them to pick which one they found attractive, as well as what they though what women and men would prefer.

Women tended to pick photos with the subjects wearing a bit more makeup than the men did.

The real interesting part of this study is that both Men and Women chose photos of more 'made up' faces for what they though other men and women found attractive.

So.. it turns out that the perception that you need a lot of makeup to look good is just in your head.
