The new airport in Minot  is seeing a decline in boardings since the opening of the air field.

The only bright spot showing an increase in boardinga is the Bismarck Airport. A majority of the airports in the state have shown a decrease in boardings since 2012 with the decline in oil related businesses. This means there are more vacant seats on all of the major airlines flying out of these airports. Some major air carriers have even dropped service at some of the western airports in the state.

In the Williston situation, the city says the new regional airport will help the area and will be ready when the oil fields rebound.
