With standards and well-being as a more sought after concept, North Dakotans at age 55 and older rank among the tops in the U.S. for overall well-being.

Americans in that age group tend to be more comfortable and satisfied with standards of living, and not so much with money. The study ranks how each state scored along the well-being index, which addresses issues such as: liking what they do, supportive relationships, community safety, energy level, and motivation to achieve life goals.

Overall, North Dakota tied for 2nd on the list along with Arizona and New Hampshire. Only Hawaii scored better in the study for having the best well-being among older Americans. West Virginia finished dead last.

Essentially, North Dakotans at age 55 and older are pretty happy in general.
