North Dakota Docufilm Nominated for Oscar
A short documentary about the North Dakota oil boom is up for an Oscar.
White Earth was released in January 2014 and won several awards at various film festivals this year.
The film examines a family with an immigrant mother that is going through the oil boom and experiencing the long, cold and brutal winter. The story is told though the eyes of the mother's three children. It focuses on the ups and downs of trying to make a living in the oil fields of North Dakota.
The movie is available for $3.99 here (streaming) and is 19 minutes in length.
White Earth is from filmmaker J. Christian Jensen and this is his first nomination for an Oscar.
