WalletHub recently did a study to research how diverse each state's population is.

The study consisted of several factors beyond race such as religion, culture, educational background, economic status, and several other characteristics. North Dakota finished as the 10th least diverse state in the country.

North Dakota finished amongst the bottom five in the U.S. in several of the determining categories, including 48th in marital-status diversity, 47th in educational-attainment diversity, and 46th in both generational diversity and household-type diversity.

Our state also finished 44th in racial & ethnic diversity and linguistic diversity. A full map of the results throughout the country can be seen below.

West Virginia finished as the least diverse state in the country, followed by Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Montana, Kentucky, Iowa, Ohio, and Indiana.

The most diverse states were led by California, Texas, Hawaii, New Jersey, and New York to round out the top five.
