In the wake of torrential downpours earlier this summer, President Obama has approved a disaster declaration that will appropriate federal funds to affected areas of North Dakota.

Severe storms and flooding hit the state back in late June, where nearly a foot of rain was dropped in some areas and caused major damage to public infrastructure. Federal funding will be available to state, tribal, and local recovery efforts.

The funding will go towards the counties of Benson, Bottineau, Divide, Eddy, McHenry, Mountrail, Pierce, Renville, and Ward and the Standing Rock Indian Reservation.
