Selena Gomez fans Down Under are about to be seriously bummed. The singer has canceled her Australian tour, scheduled for 2014, since she needs to put herself ahead of her career ambitions for the time being.

The singer, 21, issued a statement, espousing her love for her fans but citing her need for a break.

"My fans are so important to me and I would never want to disappoint them," Gomez said. "But it has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be."

That's understandable, and it's only fair that she gives herself a second to just breathe.

Sel is a hard worker, having just soared through 55 dates of her international Stars Dance Tour, which canvassed the U.S. and Europe and wrapped on Nov. 26.

Selenators needn't freak out or worry about her on a larger level. She's totally OK, according to an insider. From the sounds of it, the battery needs to go on the charger for a bit.

The source said, "Selena is fine, she's in a great space. She's looking forward to spending the holidays with her family."

Aren't we all?

The source furthered, "She's been on the road for six months and she's just ready to be normal and at home with her family. She's been working nonstop since she was 15 and wants to take a minute to herself."

Again, it's a fair request. We don't want Sel to burn out, and we're pretty sure she doesn't want to turn in subpar performances while on the road. We'd rather have her step away and regroup, and come back stronger than ever, even if it means she has to disappoint fans in Oz.
