Sen. Heitkamp Announces She Won’t Run for Governor in 2016 [AUDIO]
Taking time during her brother Joel Heitkamp's show "News and Views," Sen. Heidi Heitkamp announced she will not be putting her hat in the ring to become Governor in 2016.
Sen. Heitkamp was expected to be the front runner for the Democratic nomination for Governor after Gov. Dalrymple announced he would no seek re-election in 2016.
Sen. Heitkamp had made a previous failed attempt at the Governor's Mansion in 2000, losing to her now counterpart in the Senate John Hoeven. Gov. Dalrymple took over the governorship in 2010 when then Gov. Hoeven vacated it to take a seat in the US Senate.
The freshman senator from North Dakota is up for re-election to her senate seat in 2018.
