It seems like just about everyone has something to say about Zayn Malik's decision to leave One Direction and Simon Cowell, the man who essentially discovered Zayn and the other 1D boys, is no exception.

The music mogul expressed support for Zayn in the past, but he has come forward with a more detailed statement about the popstar's future plans. Simon appeared at a press launch for Britain's Got Talent, but naturally the conversation turned towards Zayn, whose name seems to be on everyone's lips at the moment.

"He's a fantastic singer," Simon said of Zayn, according to Irish Mirror.  "He's got to get his head together a little bit, he needs some time on his own, as he said to be a normal 22-year-old, which he's going to have."

"I've always said to all of them, 'The future is bright for all of you, depending on what you want to do.' We've always hoped that One Direction would stay together for a long time and my hunch is it still will," Simon reportedly said.

Simon actually predicted that the band would not always stay together in the past and he addressed that as well. "I wasn't expecting it to happen so quickly. You just have to deal with it. As long as the boys want it and I think they do, they will continue to be successful. They've not got over it but they've got used to it," he said.

One thing will please One Direction fans: Simon assured everyone that the boys are still on good terms. "The only thing that matters is that the boys are happy, everyone is in a different place at the moment."
