Strong Defense and Special Teams for Stony Brook Leads to UND Loss in Opener
The University of North Dakota fell in their football home opener on the road in Stony Brook, NY on Thursday night.
It was a game led by strong defense and neither offense seemed to be able to get into a rhythm.
North Dakota got on the board first with a 16-yard touchdown run from John Santiago. Stony Brook eventually tied the game at 7 and UND's defense was able to force a safety to take a 9-7 lead.
A couple of offensive drives for UND came to a screeching halt due to a sack fumble and then later on a fumble inside the red zone.
What sealed the deal for Stony Brook was a late game blocked punt that was scooped up and taken in for the touchdown.
The Stony Brook Seawolves beat UND 13-9. Highlights from the game courtesy of Stony Brook's YouTube page can be seen above.
