CHI St. Alexius has opened a new supportive care clinic in Bismarck.

The goal of the supportive care clinic is to help patients manage side effects, psychological impact, and logistical aspects of life-changing disease and illness. It also allows palliative care. Palliative care is used for those with a serious illness. This type of care focuses on providing relief from symptoms and stress that come with the illness, in hopes of providing a better quality of life for the patient and their family.

Examples of serious illness that will receive palliative care include ALS, MS, dimentia, and Parkinson's, among others.

A combination of physicians, nurses, and social workers will also be available to help with patients as part of the supportive care clinic. Pharmacists and complementary care specialists will also provide assistance in helping the clinic.
