Well, if current events forced SNL to retire the grim Steve Bannon, they sure went out with a bang. Watch Bill Murray‘s surprise return to the series that made him famous, as SNL’s take on Trump’s (ex) right-hand man finally removes the cloak.
This coming weekend will see Sam Rockwell taking the SNL stage for the first time, but January 2018 has yet more celebs in store. Season 43 will continue the year with fellow first-timer Jessica Chastain, along with SNL vet Will Ferrell.
The bizarre subculture of dime-store Christmas movies seems oddly pervasive this year, and has not gone unnoticed at SNL. The “Not Ready for Primetime Players” have at least one more gift in the form of a cut short, featuring host James Franco in an endless stream of indistinguishable Hallmark Channel classics.
SNL may be in for some changes at the Weekend Update desk, but it’s not what you think – yet. Anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che will be doubling up on their responsibilities as two of SNL’s new head writers.
SNL had already declared Saoirse Ronan as our first December host, and the time has come to round out 2017. James Franco will return to the sketch comedy series, as will comedian Kevin Hart and some fan-favorite musical guests to close out the year.
SNL may take time to carve the bird after host Chance the Rapper closes out November, but December has a Lady Bird all its own. Saoirse Ronan has been booked as our first Season 43 host of December, bringing a taste of Ireland with a veteran musical guest as well.
