Some of us live paycheck to paycheck. Sometimes it seems like we have more month than paycheck. Go Banking Rates.com ranked the best and worst states to live in for the paycheck to paycheck rat race. Lets see what side of the list NoDak ranks.

Here's how Go Banking Rates decided the best and the worst states. The looked at the median paycheck for each state, then they looked at the balance after subtracting cost of living expense such as rent, heath care costs, mortgages, food, utilities and transportation. The left over funds from each check were averaged to come up with the list.

The top states on the list for living paycheck to paycheck are the following. Living in one of these states, you would have more money left from your paycheck after paying the bills each month. This would be your savings or leisure money. The more left over, the higher on the list the state would be.

  2. Iowa
  3. Missouri
  4. Utah
  5. Idaho
  6. Montana
  7. Kansas
  8. Arkansas
  9. Nebraska
  10. North Dakota

Some of the worst states for living paycheck to paycheck, in other words, these states are very pricey to live in and you'll have the less money remaining in your check after paying the monthly bills.

Those states include Hawaii at #1. Followed by California, New York, Alaska and Florida at #5. You can see the complete list here.
