This is ironic! The creator of the board game Operation can not afford his own operation according to USA Today.

John Spinello created the board game back in the 60's. It became a game of skill and to the pleasure of many, a good way to play doctor and past time. Now, he needs his own operation and can not afford it. So his friends are getting together to help out.

According to Spinello's video on the campaign site, he sold his invention for $500 to a toy firm decades ago. It was then licensed to Milton Bradley and became what we know today as 'Operation.'
