24/7 Wall St. released the annual study of the most obese states in the country. Spoiler alert, most of the states with the richest foods are all located in the South, therefore the most states with the highest obesity rate are in the South.

The researchers at 24/7 Wall St. looked at various values in each state, including the body mass index (BMI) of adults and those with a BMI of 30% or more were considered obese. You can read more of the methodology here.

The heaviest states are;

  1. Mississippi
  2. Louisiana
  3. West Virginia
  4. Alabama
  5. Arkansas
