Phyllis Frelich, a Devils Lake, North Dakota native best known for her Tony Award-winning performance in Children of a Lesser God, died Thursday at the age of 70.

According to The Bismarck Tribune, Frelich graduated from the North Dakota School for the Deaf in 1962. She then attended Gallaudet University, located in Washington D.C.

Frelich won the Tony Award in1980 for her work in the play Children of a Lesser God, in which she portrayed Sarah Norman.

Frelich also made guest appearances on TV shows like E.R., CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and Barney Miller, according to her IMDB page.

Frelich is survived by her husband, Robert Steinburg, and her two children.
