The NHL Stanley Cup Final matchup is set as the Washington Capitals will faceoff with the Vegas Knights and two former players from UND have a shot at winning a championship.

Last night, the Washington Capitals beat the Tampa Bay Lightning, 4-0 in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals to advance to the Stanley Cup Finals best-of-7 series against the Vegas Knights. Despite the incredible story of the first-year expansion team out of Vegas making a historical run, there's a chance you might have plenty of North Dakotans rooting for the Capitals to take home Lord Stanley's Cup.

T.J. Oshie will be attempting to win the first NHL championship of his decorated career while Shane Gersich could get one in his very first season if the Capitals should win.

Oshie will certainly be expected to get tons of time on the ice in the Stanley Cup Finals. Gersich has only played in three games so far this postseason.

Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals is the night of Memorial Day on Monday, May 28th at 7 p.m. in Vegas.
