Dec. 31 of this year will mark the final day for University of North Dakota Athletic Director Brian Faison.

Faison's retirement was announced today by the school. Faison has served as the school's Athletic Director since May of 2007 and oversaw many changes and developments in the Athletics program.

Among them was moving all of UND's sports to Division I. Additionally he saw the change from the Fighting Sioux to the Fighting Hawks, as well as the first NCAA Tournament appearance from the basketball program in March 2017.

Following Dec. 31, Faison will still serve as a Special Advisor to UND Athletics through June 30.

A nationwide search is under way for a new Athletic Director for the school. Faison was the school's 15th Athletic Director.
