The University of North Dakota men's hockey team's quest for an eighth NCAA championship will begin this Friday, March 25th, against Northeastern in Cincinnati.

UND enters the 2016 Division I Men's Ice Hockey Championship as the #3-seed overall and the top seed in the Midwest Regional, which takes place at U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati March 25th and 26th.

The Fighting Hawks were previously ranked #1, but dropped two spots after they were unable to secure a win at the National Collegiate Hockey Conference Frozen Faceoff last weekend, according to UNDSports.com.

The team enters the tournament with a record of 30-6-4. Their semifinal opponent, Northeastern, comes in with a record of 22-13-5. They finished the season ranked 9th and 10th in the USCHO.com and USA Today polls, respectively.

The Frozen Four will take place April 7th and 9th at Amalie Arena in Tampa, FL.
