The University of North Dakota men's hockey team will raise their eighth national championship banner before an exhibition game on October 1st.

This will be the first championship banner to be raised in the Ralph Engelstad Arena, which opened its doors in 2001.

According to The Grand Forks Herald, the school probably opted to raise the banner before an exhibition game to avoid distractions.

The banner is expected to be green in color and will feature the interlocking ND logo, which is also featured on the 2015 and 2016 NCHC championship banners.

The University of North Dakota men's hockey team won their eighth national championship when they defeated Quinnipiac 5-1 on April 9th in Tampa, Florida.

Tickets for UND's exhibition game against Manitoba on October 1st are not currently on sale. You can, however, get more information at UNDSports.com.
