After completing its sea trials, the $2.6 billion USS North Dakota will be commissioned this Saturday, October 25th, in a ceremony in Groton, Connecticut.

According to The Jamestown Sun, the nuclear-powered attack submarine is the first of eight boats being built as part of redesigned Virginia-class subs that make up the Block III group. It will have a crew of 14 officers and 120 enlisted men.

450 to 500 people with ties to North Dakota are expected to attend the ceremony, including Governor Jack Dalrymple, Senator John Hoeven, and Representative Kevin Cramer.

If you're unable to attend the commissioning, it will be streamed live HERE.
