Carson Wentz threw his first interception of his NFL career on the Eagles final offensive drive to force a tough loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

Carson Wentz, sporting pink wrist bands, a pink towel and pink cleats in support of breast cancer awareness month got off to a slow start going 1 for 2 on his opening drive, nearly throwing his first career pick and then getting sacked on third down.

But on the next offensive possession, with the Eagles down 14-0, Wentz led a 9 play, 80 yard drive capped off by a 1 yard touchdown pass to Ryan Matthews to cut the lead to 14-7.

It was a rough outing for the Eagles defense as well with the Lions scoring a touchdown on each of their first three possessions forcing Wentz to play from behind for the entire first half.

To end the half, Wentz had to work on his two-minute drill. Penalties hampered the drive significantly and the Eagles were forced to kick a FG. The Eagles went into the half down 21-10.

The Eagles had the first offensive possession of the second half and Wentz led the Eagles 75 yards down the field and he threw his second TD of the game to Josh Huff. Wentz was 17/19 for 181 yards and 2 touchdowns at this point. The Eagles trailed 21-17.

The Eagles defense stepped up on the ensuing drive forcing and recovering a fumble. Despite good field position, the Eagles had to settle for a FG. The Eagles were down 21-20 with 6:47 to go in the third quarter.

The teams traded possessions for the remainder of the quarter and the fourth quarter began with the score still 21-20.

Wentz was able to set up the Eagles for another field goal attempt with 6:40 to go in the final quarter and the Eagles took their first lead of the game, 23-21.

The Eagles defense forced another three and out on the Lions next possession. Wentz and the Eagles tried to seal the deal but Ryan Matthews fumbled the football and Detroit took over on offense with 2:34 to go at the Philadelphia 45 yard line. The fumble was the first turnover committed by the Eagles all season.

The Eagles held the Lions to just a field goal and the Lions went up 24-23 with just over a minute to play.

Wentz needed to drive his team into at least field goal range with no timeouts left and was given the ball with 1:28 to go.

On first down, Wentz went for the home run pass and it was picked off by Darius Slay. The interception was the first of Wentz's career. The Lions then let the clock run out and the Eagles fell 24-23.

Wentz finished the day 25 of 33 for 238 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.
