Is it really spring? After all, this is North Dakota.

If you need to look for the silver lining, the farmers and agriculture community need the moisture. The National Weather Service in Bismarck has issued a WINTER STORM WARNING for the region.

East of the Bismarck area is under the gun for snow accumulation, but locally, the counties of  Rolette, Burleigh, Logan, La Moure, McIntosh and Dickey are included in the area to receive moderate snow accumulations.

The timing is Friday evening though Saturday morning. The effects of the system will include heavy and wet mixed precipitation. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 6 inches are possible. Localized amounts up to 8 inches are possible in the Sheyenne River valley. As with the system last weekend which moved through the area, the precipitation may start as rain initially, but quickly change to snow.

This will be the wet heavy snow that some call the 'heart-attack' snow. Meaning, the wet and heavy snow is difficult to shovel and can lead to heath issues, including an aching back.
Freezing drizzle possible Saturday early morning, as the system moves out of the area with difficult travel conditions, including during the evening commute with significant reductions in visibility are possible.
