The start of the work week will be a bit sketchy as the National Weather Service has issued a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY, going into effect Monday morning (Dec 4) at 4 and continuing through Monday, 6pm (CST). You knew eventually, this unseasonable warm weather would change and North Dakota weather would grip you.

The snow and snow mixture will move into the Bismarck-Mandan area starting in the early morning hours Monday and will persist through the day.

The expected snow fall will range between 1 to 3 inches, combined with the strong winds, can make traveling hazardous through the region. Speaking of winds, the strong winds at 50 mph, will cause drifts and blowing snow reducing visibility.

During the day Sunday, snow and freezing rain will develop towards the north of the area and Monday morning, the system with rain, sleet, snow and wind will developing from the west, and spreading east and northeast. This system will especially impact the south and east with the heaviest snowfall.

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow means periods of snow and blowing snow will cause primarily travel difficulties.

Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while traveling. Be sure to have a winter survial kit in your vehicle and make sure your car is winter ready. Be aware of snow-plows working the roads and highways.
