Christina Aguilera Won’t Be Recording a Country Album Anytime Soon
Sorry, music fans. Christina Aguilera isn't planning on recording a country album anytime soon.
The singer, whose Nashville arc kicks off on April 15, told PEOPLE that she doesn't see herself switching musical genres.
"I think my roots will stay where they are," she said, "but that doesn't mean there won't be more collaborations down the line."
"There are really no nicer people than in country," Christina said. "[Nashville] couldn't have been more welcoming and great to work with. On my last day of shooting, they even gave me a cake. It was such a great experience for my family."
Christina is no stranger to acting, having grown up on The Mickey Mouse Club and later landing a role in the movie Burlesque.
"My experiences in acting have been really great, so if the role is right I am always open to it," Christina explained. But, she added, "my true love will always stay music."
Christina will play pop singer Jade St. John on ABC's musical drama. Her character — who sports pink hair! — wants to transition into country music. (Here's hoping the show gives us an epic duet between Christina's character and Connie Britton's character, Rayna James!)
You can watch Christina take on the country music world when her Nashville arc premieres on April 15.
