Following confirmed measles infections in Williams County, CHI St. Alexius Health Williston is acting to safeguard patients, staff, and the Williston community.

Measles is a highly contagious disease driven by a very airborne virus. The hospital has put the following safeguards in place effective immediately:

Children under 18 are not allowed to visit at this time.

One support person may be present for maternity patients throughout labor and delivery; no extra guests or children are allowed.

Before visiting the walk-in clinic or the hospital, anyone with symptoms (cough, runny nose, fever, rash, and watery eyes that are red and occasionally itchy) or who has been exposed to someone with measles should phone us at (701) 770-4915.

If you experience a life-threatening emergency, such as stroke symptoms, difficulties breathing, or chest pain, do not postpone treatment. Go to the ER or contact 911 immediately.

According to CHI, these steps are only temporary and are meant to stop the sickness from spreading more.

Once the hospital determines that it is safe to do so, it will remove the restrictions.

Working with the North Dakota Department of Health and the Upper Missouri District Health Unit, CHI St. Alexius Health Williston is tracking the situation

The hospital will also be setting up a mobile triage center to assist in the evaluation of those who could have been exposed.
