More Than a Parade: Williston North Dakota’s Band Day Is a Three-Day Party
In Williston, Band Day might look like it’s all about the parade. But that’s only the beginning of the story.
More To Take In Than Just A Parade
Sure, the marching bands, the floats, and the classic “wave at someone you might know but aren’t quite sure” moments are all part of the magic—but this year, Band Day is basically a three-day festival disguised as a Saturday tradition. The entire Mon-Dak region is gearing up, and honestly, it feels like the community decided, “Why stop at one day when we can celebrate all weekend?”

The Event Weekend Kicks Off Thursday
Things kick off Thursday night with the Community Wind Ensemble at the Williston High School Theater. It’s the perfect warm-up act—classy, local talent, and a great excuse to say, “Yes, I do support the arts,” while enjoying some fantastic music.

Friday Is Full Of Fun
Friday? Buckle up. We go from trap shooting at Painted Woods Sporting Range (because this is North Dakota) straight into Food Truck Friday at Harmon Park—arguably one of the best inventions known to mankind. Add in the 44th Annual WHS Rodeo and live music at The Range Bar & Grill at Rivers Edge, and you’ve got yourself a full day of food, fun, and maybe a little two-stepping. Throw in some college baseball at Williston State College, and the party kicks into full gear.
Saturday Is The Main Event Day
Then comes Saturday—the main event.
The morning starts strong with the rodeo continuing bright and early, while car lovers will be drooling over the Basin Kruzers Car Show at the Raymond Family Community Center. Harmon Park transforms into a hub of food vendors, craft booths, and that one irresistible smell that makes you buy something fried before 10:30 a.m.
Feeling ambitious? There’s even a Band Day Mile Fun Run. Feeling less ambitious? No judgment—there’s plenty of seating along the parade route.
At high noon, the Band Day Parade marches through town, bringing the energy, the music, and just enough chaos to keep things interesting. From there, the celebration rolls right back into Harmon Park for band performances all afternoon.
Baseball, Racing, and Jeremy Camp Round Out The Day
And just when you think the day might wind down—nope. There's a full day of baseball again at WSC. You’ve also got dirt track races at Williston Basin Speedway and the Jeremy Camp concert at the Great Northern Events Center to cap things off.
So yes, the parade may be the headliner—but Band Day in Williston has officially become a full-blown weekend experience. There is alot to take in here, so if you need more information, click here. Stretch those calendars, grab your lawn chairs, and maybe pace yourself on the food trucks… it’s going to be a fun one.
