Golden Girls, But Make It North Dakota

My friends and I were recently joking that we’d never be able to retire unless we all moved in together like the Golden Girls. But then I came across a new study that gave me a little hope.

North Dakota Ranks #4 for Affordable Retirement

Researchers at NetCredit crunched the numbers and ranked North Dakota as the 4th most affordable state in the U.S. to retire. They looked at the cost of living in every state and calculated how much money you'd need to retire comfortably.

The Numbers Behind Retirement Costs

The study factored in typical retirement expenses like housing, healthcare, groceries, and transportation. Thanks to North Dakota’s lower overall costs, retirees here can enjoy peace of mind without having to sell the farm - literally.

What You’ll Need to Retire Here

According to their research, you’d need about $725,851 to retire comfortably here. That still sounds like a lot, but it’s significantly lower than in many other parts of the country.

Plan Your Golden Years

So I guess if we’re all going to grow old together, split the bills, and share a kitchen, North Dakota’s not a bad place to do it. I’m just calling dibs on the bedroom with the best view.
