
A Powerful Winter Storm Is Set To Impact North Dakota Tuesday
Rain, freezing rain, very strong winds, heavy snow, and potential ground blizzard conditions are all possible over parts of North Dakota.
The full gamut of messy weather with the potential impact on your Tuesday across the state. A very powerful clipper system is expected to bring this wide array of winter weather starting Tuesday morning in western North Dakota. The National Weather Service has issued two watches you need to be aware of.
UPDATE: A High Wind Warning has been issued for our listening area from 12 noon, December 9th, until 3 am, December 10th. Northwest winds of 40 to 65 miles per hour are expected.
UPDATE: A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for our listening area from midnight Tuesday, December 9th, until noon December 9th. Freezing Rain, with a total ice accumulation of 1/10 of an inch. Difficult travel conditions are possible tomorrow morning during your commute with areas of blowing snow.

A High Wind Watch has been issued for much of North Dakota, including Bismarck-Mandan, and our listening area (central and western North Dakota)
We are talking very, very strong winds that will likely impact your travel and could cause damage. Make sure your Christmas decorations are secured, or they might end up in Aunt Edna's home in South Dakota. Northwest winds are expected to develop by noon, around 40 miles per hour, gusting up to 65 miles per hour. The High Wind Watch runs from 9 am Tuesday to 3 am Wednesday.
In addition to the windbag coming our way, you can expect freezing rain, rain, and a coating of snow (around an inch) to add to the fun of driving on your commutes.
A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for eastern and northeast North Dakota.
This runs from 6 am Tuesday until 6 am Wednesday. This includes the counties of Towner, Cavalier, Pembina, Benson, Ramsey, Eddy, Nelson, Grand Forks, Griggs, Steele, Traill, Barnes, and Cass. This will impact the cities of Grand Forks, Fargo, Valley City, and Devils Lake.
A combination of heavy snow and strong winds could make travel very difficult in these areas.
